12 years ago the couple immigrated to Israel from Switzerland. They bought an apartment in North Tel Aviv, 135 square meters plus a 10 square meter balcony. They turned to interior designer Shai David, and their request was for him to plan and design an apartment for them in a country style, with a modern twist. The house is in cream tones, very pleasant and calm with a lot of wood, and chandeliers. Except for a spot of color on a blue dresser, which David designed years ago when he worked at Castiel as the house designer. Over the years the family grew, and the couple had 3 children (now teenagers). Then came a surprising phone call from the woman who told the designer that in light of her separation from her partner, she wanted to renovate and transform the house from end to end. A house with a completely different style, including planning an additional children's room (only 2 children's rooms were planned in the first incarnation).
The new style chosen is a Scandinavian style with a strong contrast of colors in the space. The owner of the house wanted a calm and refreshing home with an airy feeling of freedom. Interior designer Shai David explains: "After more than a decade, I met someone completely new. Vibrant, and full of joie de vivre. It was clear to me that the style in the current incarnation should reflect her new self - more modern, Scandinavian, strong, and one that inspires a lot of freedom and lightness."
When entering the house, we meet a concrete wall with a special striped texture, on which a television and a mirror are placed, next to a large vase. A wall of strength by definition, despite being minimalistic. For the living room, a banana sofa in a powder shade was chosen, and a powerful rug in the center, very unusual in its colors, and on it are two small tables. The same color is repeated in touches throughout the house.
At the back of the living room is a small work area, with a dresser on the side and a chair, and an artistic picture that matches the colors of the carpet. There was no work area in the previous house.
The elliptical dining area in Scandinavian style has a pearl-toned gauze surface and above it a burgundy light fixture from the old house, which was modified and dyed in the oven. The blue dresser that also starred in the house continues in its new location, near the dining area.
The kitchen grew at the expense of the service area of the house and was designed in the new format of birch wood, where the contrast is reflected in the brushed stainless steel accessories (faucets, handles), the grayish natural stone-looking marble, and the tall cabinets in a powder shade that corresponds with the banana sofa.
The designer reduced and redesigned the master suite, in order to create an additional bedroom for the girl. The suite with a low bed in Japanese style, very minimalistic and unusual in view. Bowls (not chests) were placed on both sides. A special and different concept of the designer who wanted to create a different experience, freed for the renewed soul of the owner of the house. The cabinets were designed at a relatively low height of 1.5m, not up to the ceiling, and stone art details were placed on them that provide airiness in the space.
Two high doors (2.4 meters) lead us to the mother's bathroom. In the bathroom, the wall was designed with a fishbone-style stainless steel material in a rose gold tone. Two mirrors in an oval shape, with free-standing chests of drawers, which create a lot of lightness, and the rest of the space is white. For the faucets, a brass gold tone was chosen, an interesting and unusual connection that creates curiosity in the space.
The children's rooms, in accordance with the free spirit of the house, are very colorful: A room with pink touches, a green room with yellow, which is the third new room added in the current planning. The children's bathroom was designed with a sesame floor and the cabinet in a royal blue shade corresponds with the dresser in the living room and the surface in a powder shade.
The balcony continues the light line of the house, the designer has placed a carpet intended for the interior, but its material is also relevant for the outdoors, and couches in various shades of pink with an iron cactus.
The windows were changed from bronze-brown to white. Which provides the home with the lightness and bright innovation that the designer wanted to produce in the home.
The current house is full of ethnic-African art that is colorful and full of chic and style. It is woven into all the spaces of the house, and adds a lot of interest.
In conclusion, David explains: "The truth is that this is not the first time that I design houses again for the same family, and the requirements change from end to end. People change over the years, move around the world, grow up, the children leave the house, their hobbies, jobs and interests. I designed a house for a high-tech, which over the years slept his vocation and now he is a psychologist, like the job, the house has changed completely."
According to him, "the wisdom is to create new positions, pour new content into existence, place a piece of furniture in a different space, paint, and not just run on an endless shopping trip, this is where the greatness of the designer is measured."
