WhatsApp has been the most popular messaging app in the world for years, and millions of users rely on it for daily communication. However, the app's default setting requires saving the recipient's phone number in your contacts to start a conversation, which isn't really clear why. Often, there are situations where we don't want to save a phone number, for instance, for a one-time message, a short business interaction, or simply to maintain privacy. Fortunately, there are several methods to send a WhatsApp message to someone who isn't in your contacts without saving their number. Here are two simple ways.

Using a Link Through the Browser

The first and simplest way to send a WhatsApp message to an unsaved number is through the browser. WhatsApp offers a built-in way to send messages directly through a link without saving the phone number.

All you need to do is open your browser and type the address: https://wa.me/, followed by the country code and the recipient's phone number. For example, if it’s an Israeli number, the address would be https://wa.me/972XXXXXXXXX, where you should remember to drop the first digit of the local number (0) and add the country code (972 for Israel).

After entering the address in the browser, the chat with that person will open in WhatsApp, and you can send the message directly.

Using Third-Party Apps

There are various apps that help send WhatsApp messages to unsaved numbers. A popular example is the "Click to Chat" app available on the Google Play Store. This app allows you to enter the recipient's phone number (including the country code) and send a message directly to WhatsApp without saving the number on your device. Another advantage of these apps is that you can save template messages in advance and send them with a few clicks. This is a convenient solution for those who need to communicate with multiple people without saving their details.

WhatsApp Groups

If you or the recipient are members of the same WhatsApp group, there is an option to open a direct chat with the person without saving their number. All you need to do is enter the group, click on their number (without leaving the group), and then open a private chat. This method is particularly effective when it comes to someone you're messaging within a group context but don’t want to save their details.

And our favorite method is this: Copy the phone number. Now enter WhatsApp, select yourself, and send yourself a message with the phone number. Tap once lightly on the person's phone number, and a new window will open offering several options, the first being a chat with that number. Click on it – and the chat will open.
