Despite its absence from the Western phone market, Huawei continues to demonstrate impressive capabilities and remain competitive in the premium device market. The Chinese technology giant is poised to achieve another milestone by becoming the first to launch a smartphone with a tri-fold display.
Richard Yu, head of Huawei's electronics division, recently confirmed that the groundbreaking smartphone will hit stores as early as September. He made the announcement during the launch event for Huawei's new electric vehicle, the Stelato S9, which features the company's proprietary operating system, HarmonyOS.
The smartphone, which has been photographed several times in Yu's hands, will unfold into a massive 10-inch display and could redefine what we think about foldable phones. The images reveal three panels stacked together in a tablet-like form factor, a large circular camera bump similar to that of the Huawei Mate 50 Pro, two folding marks, and a selfie camera.
It remains unclear whether the new device will be part of Huawei's prestigious Mate series, like the previous Mate X models. However, the abundance of leaks and glimpses suggests that Huawei's official marketing campaign will begin very soon, revealing all the details about the world's first tri-fold foldable smartphone.
