In this challenging time, when the people of Israel are facing complex security challenges, the fascinating story of Sharon Yacovi - an Israeli entrepreneur who developed a unique card game called "The Most Israeli" - emerges. The game, which was released just a week before the outbreak of the war on October 7, offers a refreshing and fun way to strengthen intergenerational ties and deepen knowledge about Israel.
From a fighter to a game developer: The story behind "The Most Israeli" Sharon Yacovi, married + 2, reserve sergeant major in the Jerusalem Brigade, did not plan to enter the world of game development. The young man needs to strengthen his knowledge in various fields such as Israeli history and heritage. Later, I discovered that the older generation would also enjoy a game that broadens their horizons, and I decided that I had to do something." Wanting to educate and enrich his children, Sharon began developing a card game that combines knowledge about Israel with elements of a social and family game. "I wrote a list of topics and values that I wanted to reflect in the game And I started collecting the information," he explains.
"I conducted many experiments with all kinds of variations of the game, I added and removed many questions until I arrived at the most balanced formula." A game for the whole family "the most Israeli" is intended for participants aged 8 and over, but Sharon emphasizes that the game is suitable for all ages. "The enjoyment of it increases when several generations play together," he says. "It creates a connection and in-depth acquaintance of the younger generation with the older generation." The game includes 200 playing cards and combines questions and answers with assembling a map, which creates "a fun dynamic around meaningful learning", explains Yacovi. "There is a perfect balance between a knowledge game and a social/family and competitive game."
From home to the battlefield and back
The launch of the game took place only a week before the outbreak of war on October 7th. Sharon, who was drafted into the reserves, found himself taking part in two rounds of combat - in the Gaza Strip and the Gush Etzion Block, and these days he was preparing for a third round in the Gaza Strip. Although his new business stalled during his service, the game found its way onto the battlefield as well. "The game accompanied us and the reactions were great," he says. "It's a very patriotic game and suited the mood at the time."
Sharon even received responses from customers who sent the game to soldiers in the Gaza Strip, who really enjoyed playing it. Looking to the future Upon his return from the reserve, Sharon renewed the business activity. The positive reactions he received from customers encourage him to continue developing the project. "I received responses from families who played with mixed ages," he says. "The best response is that many of the customers come back and order more games for friends and family." In this challenging time, "The Most Israeli" offers not only entertainment, but also a way to strengthen the family bond and the sense of national identity. This is a reminder of the power of Israeli creativity and the importance of preserving knowledge and heritage, even - and perhaps especially - in difficult times.
How to order the game?
Since Sharon was drafted into the IDF immediately after the game was released, a site for online orders had not yet been established, so orders are made directly through him, and there are several collection points throughout the country and delivery options.
