In the center of Em HaMoshavot neighborhood in Petah Tikva, the designer and architect Michael Ohayon designed an apartment that became a contemporary luxury space. The owners of the apartment, a couple whose children left the house, wanted to upgrade their house that was built 15 years ago and create an atmosphere of a luxurious vacation, even when they are at home.
Ohayon says: "Already at the first meeting I was happy to recognize the potential inherent in the apartment. The owners of the house were considering selling the property and investing in a new property, with my advice the clients finally decided to give up on selling the apartment. I knew that the renovation could maximize the existing area and create for them a space that simulates the feeling of a luxury hotel. I had a very clear vision."
The apartment was completely renovated, after the demolition only one column remained at the base of the house and four walls. Ohayon made extensive adjustments to the plumbing, infrastructure, electrical points and the air conditioning system. The result was the creation of an open, modern and spacious space, with straight lines and a dark color palette chosen for the project, a precise connection that adds a touch of luxury to the look. The original kitchen, which was limited in size and shape, underwent a design revolution.
Ohayon decided to break the dividing wall between the kitchen and the living room, so that finally one spacious central space was created. The design of the kitchen included the use of a unique natural stone imported from Spain, a practical and easy-to-use kitchen where the kitchen cabinets were designed with a recurring carpentry motif in the apartment for a homogeneous and uniform kitchen that corresponds with the rest of the project. The kitchen has been designed down to the smallest details and its highlight is the glass cabinet illuminated with LED lighting and contributed to creating an elegant and sophisticated look.
In the living room of the house, Ohayon chose to create a sort of "square" with carefully selected furniture from "Nisoo Harhitim". Ohayon chose a rounded sofa made of textured fabric that upgrades the look of the living room and adds interest, and next to the sofa are two armchairs in a white and black print for balance. The furniture is placed around a large table made of real leather and a present owner who grabs the attention. The living room, like the rest of the apartment, was designed with a modern look and corresponds with the uniform flow of the rest of the project's spaces. In the bedroom, the master suite has been upgraded to a spacious and luxurious suite. This renovation included the addition of a new closet with transparent glass cabinets and warm interior lighting, which created the feeling of a luxury clothing boutique.
The shower was redesigned with glass partitions of the "Galina" type that allow on the one hand privacy and on the other hand preserve the large space created in the design of the master suite. The general design line of the apartment included straight and uniform lines, with precise tile flooring that gave a clean and precise look. This is where Niso Harhit, which specializes in rounded works using innovative technology, comes into the picture. The round furniture was the exact choice and was intended to "break" the straight character of the apartment, together with Niso Furniture, we produced furniture specially adapted for the customer. The combination of straight lines together with round furniture created a soft but on the other hand interesting and bold look.
The guest area, which was designed especially for the grandchildren of the owners of the house, was carefully selected in a "mini" size that matches the needs of the family and the style of the rest of the house. On the living room wall was placed a work of art from Ohayon's collection in collaboration with an Israeli artist. The selected photo added a personal and unique touch to the living room. Ohayon describes the image as his "fingerprint on the project," representing his personal and creative stamp on the design process. A wide shower, 2-meter sinks, floating mirrors and warm LED lighting were built for the guests' bathroom, which gave the room an appearance of luxury along with functionality.
The balcony has been renovated and turned into a luxurious outdoor living room with a fully equipped kitchen, which includes a grill, a stove and a tabon corner. The high-quality furniture chosen, also by Niso Furniture, was manufactured and designed especially for the changing Israeli weather, so that it can be used by the family in all seasons and will be resistant to damage. The balcony has become the ideal corner for a pampering stay. To ensure that the balcony maintains uniformity with the interior design, Ohayon chose to use the same design principles that created a harmonious combination between the exterior and the interior. "In fact, the living room and balcony furniture are almost identical, with the exception of changes in the fabric choices to suit the climate conditions."
"For the first time, I decided to produce coverings in the wall mirrors that repeat throughout the house so that they add to the sense of height and continuity of the space. The credit for the delicate leather touches that repeat themselves in the project goes to his attempt, he suggested to upholster some of the furniture with real leather fabric, the result was spectacular."
Ohayon adds: "This is an example of a successful and fruitful collaboration between the interior designer and the architect responsible for the project and the suppliers he chooses to work with." The idea that came from Nisso, upgraded the feeling of warmth and refinement of the house." This is not the first time I choose to work together with Nisso, I really like his way of working and trust his professional eye and the uncompromising quality of the furniture and accessories he offers for my projects."
