The category of tracking tags (Tracker Tags), such as Apple's AirTag, Samsung's SmartTag or tags that support Google's network - Find My (like chipolo) have been gaining popularity for some time, especially in the summer, when many go on vacation overseas. The location tags make it possible to easily locate the location of the suitcase at the airport or anywhere else in the world (thanks to a network of devices that help to perform the location).

The Dutch company Ekster specializes in wallets and backpacks, but it also has a tracking tag integrated into the product designed as a credit card. It comes in about the thickness of two credit cards (2.4mm) and fits easily in a wallet. The Finder Card is a product similar to Apple's tracking tag - AirTag, which is integrated into a product that fits easily into a wallet and knows how to work with Apple's Find My network (on iOS devices). The genius thing about it, that it solves the annoying problem in AirTag - battery replacement. Ekster's product already includes an internal battery that lasts about six months, when it can be easily charged using a magnetic charger.

Ekster - Finder Card: Ringing and moisture resistant

The Finder Card works through Apple's locating application and so it is also possible to locate or make it start ringing at a distance of about 90 meters. If you want to find out where you left your wallet (whether it's in your gym bag or on the couch), you can look for it more easily at home. The card itself is protected against moisture to the IPX5 standard, so it can absorb minor water damage.

There is also a matching wallet

As mentioned, Ekster is a company that specializes in wallets and the Finder Card is actually a complementary product. I tested it together with the company's Cardholder wallet, it is designed as a wallet for people who are not looking for fat wallets that take up a lot of space. This is a minimal wallet with room for cards and bills.

The cardholder is made of aluminum, where at the bottom there is a button with a mechanical mechanism that releases the cards inside. That way, you don't have to start rummaging through your wallet looking for your driver's license or workplace card. The inner part allows you to store five cards comfortably and you can also compress six, but you feel the compartment becomes compressed and it opens less freely. Once the Finder Card is integrated inside, you can only insert two cards with it.

Since two cards in this wallet is not enough, Ekster integrated an RFID protected plate spring into the back of the device to block information theft. The plate attached to the card allows you to squeeze 6 more cards under it. By the way, I liked the brace less, I removed it easily from the rubber band that wraps it and the wallet. Instead, I used a place to store bills.

Prices: Finder Card is sold for NIS 180 (USD 49), Cardholder is sold for NIS 242 (USD 67), when you purchase a wallet, you can purchase the card for NIS 105 (USD 29).

Bottom line, as someone who mostly walks around with minimalist wallets, the Cardholder gave me an elegant solution with a mechanism for easier retrieval of the cards I need. In addition, it also has a place to store bills. The Finder Card is a complementary product that allows you to make this wallet (or any other wallet) traceable on Apple's network, so it won't get lost. The advantage of Ekster, that its tracking card does not require battery replacement, because it is easily charged.
