When designing a small guest space in the garden or on the balcony, the ideal solution would be to choose functional garden furniture. Tables, chairs and even benches designed with two main thoughts in mind - efficiency and saving space. Parquet and multifunctional items, designed with space saving in mind, choosing comfort and weather-resistant materials, and adding some vegetation to the balcony or garden, will create an "oasis" that you will love to host in. Roi Geva, manager of the ZAGAMIX design brand in Israel, gives tips for designing the balcony and garden.

1. Practicality - functional garden furniture is designed to be practical and versatile, so it can be used in a variety of different ways. For example, a hospitality bench under which you can place a water-resistant designed storage box, which can be used to store the pillows and blankets of the balcony. Furniture that is designed in extremely thin sections and that is easy to stack on top of each other will provide a perfect solution for saving space and up-to-date design.

2. Comfort - is key when it comes to outdoor furniture, especially if it is planned to be used often. Give preference to furniture with ergonomic designs, such as curved backrests and armrests. Check that the upholstery and pillows are comfortable for prolonged sitting and pleasant to the touch.

3. Materials - consider the materials the furniture is made of. True, garden furniture is naturally made of durable materials, but even here there are durable materials and there are more durable materials. Choose materials that are resistant to the scorching heat of the Israeli sun and to continuous humidity, to ensure that the beautiful garden furniture you have chosen will last throughout all the seasons of the year, put an emphasis on furniture with pleasant fabric upholstery, these will not only be beautiful to look at but also pampering and pleasant.

4. Accuracy - just before going on a shopping trip, whether on foot or virtual, carefully measure the outdoor area and try to understand what furniture you need exactly. For example, a round coffee table that can be placed in a corner will take up less space compared to a rectangular table. Many times, a thin bench that clings to the wall is better than two armchairs. Advanced technology that makes it possible to see the product from every angle virtually as well as to place it in the desired space through visualization will make the job very easy.

5. Moving - choose light furniture! One that is easy to move, so that when you are not hosting, the chairs can be stacked on top of each other or the table can be attached to the wall and even stored in the warehouse to make cleaning the place easier.

6. Uniform language - garden furniture collections come in a wide variety of styles, from rustic to modern. Choose outdoor furniture that fits your personal taste, but also continues the design style at home, so that everything corresponds and speaks the same design language.

7. Maintenance - take into account the maintenance requirements of the furniture you have chosen. Wooden furniture may require painting or sealing, while metal furniture may need rust treatment. Be sure to choose furniture made of materials that guarantee easy cleaning and durability for many years.

8. Budget - garden furniture comes in a variety of prices. Think about your budget constraints before you set out. Today you can find garden furniture at affordable prices, without giving up the chosen design style or the comfort, quality and durability.
