Sonos unveiled two new products in its premium series – the Arc Ultra and Sub 4. The launch follows a several-month delay due to the need to fix the company’s app, which had received harsh criticism after a software update.
The Arc Ultra replaces the previous Arc as the company’s flagship surround sound speaker. It features Sonos’ new Sound Motion technology, allowing for a dramatic reduction in speaker size without compromising on bass power. According to Sonos, the Arc Ultra can generate twice the bass output of its predecessor. The new soundbar is equipped with 14 speakers, including side-mounted tweeters, allowing it to deliver immersive, spatial sound.
Another standout feature is the dialogue enhancement tool, which enables users to adjust the clarity of dialogue. As for connectivity, the soundbar includes HDMI eARC, support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, as well as AirPlay 2 and optical audio support (with the required adapter). For the first time, Android users will also be able to enjoy the Trueplay acoustic tuning feature. The Arc Ultra will be priced at NIS 3,999 in Israel, distributed officially by the Bug chain, and will be available for purchase later this month.
In addition, Sonos launched its new subwoofer, the Sub 4, which the company calls its most advanced subwoofer to date. The Sub 4 boasts more processing power, upgraded memory, and a new Wi-Fi radio that offers improved connectivity. At the same time, Sonos has made the device more energy-efficient, with nearly a 50% reduction in power consumption when in standby mode. The Sub 4 will also be available for purchase in Israel at a price of NIS 3,699.
With the launch of the new products, Sonos also announced a software update designed to improve the performance of its app. The company promises enhancements in system recognition, speaker groups, and setup settings. Existing users will receive an update that restores approximately 90% of the features lost in the app since the new version was released.
“We’ve been working tirelessly to resolve the most critical app issues and provide the most requested features,” said Sonos CEO Patrick Spence. “As promised, we will continue to improve the software regularly, and we’re committed to making the Sonos experience better than ever.”
