After a long wait and countless rumors, Sony has finally unveiled the PlayStation 5 Pro, the most upgraded and powerful version of its next-gen console. Four years after launching the original PlayStation 5, Sony promises players a revolutionary gaming experience with unprecedented graphic performance.

The Pro model offers significant improvements in specifications compared to the original version. Key upgrades include a larger graphics processor, enhanced Ray Tracing capabilities (a technology that greatly improves game graphics by providing precise reflections on various surfaces), and AI-based graphic enhancements. The new GPU features 67% more processing units and 28% faster RAM, allowing for up to 45% faster rendering.

Additionally, Sony aims to close the gap between performance modes and graphic quality settings, which players previously had to choose between. The idea is to offer enhanced graphical performance with more consistent frame rates across all games. Sony’s in-house game studios are already updating their games to take advantage of these upgrades, and third-party developers are also planning to leverage the extra power of the Pro version. Other features include a tool that improves or stabilizes performance in over 8,500 backward-compatible PS4 games, according to Sony.

Additional features include Wi-Fi 7, variable refresh rates, and support for 8K resolutions. In terms of design, Sony has managed to make the PlayStation 5 Pro more powerful without increasing its size compared to the original large model. It’s worth noting that, as with the original version, if you want a disc drive or a vertical stand for the console, they must be purchased separately at an additional cost.

The console will hit stores on November 7, priced at $700. Pre-orders will begin on September 26, but it is not yet known what the price will be in Israel or when it will be available locally.
