Mark your calendars: September 10 is expected to be a day of celebration for Apple fans, with the highly anticipated iPhone 16 announcement event. But the excitement doesn’t stop there—recent reports suggest that Apple plans to surprise users with updated AirPods models as well.
According to Bloomberg’s senior reporter, Mark Gurman, Apple is set to refresh its popular wireless earbuds lineup by introducing two new AirPods models at different price points, replacing the current second and third-generation versions.
Both models will feature a redesigned look, including a USB-C port instead of Lightning, shorter stems similar to those on the AirPods Pro, improved ear fit, and enhanced audio quality. The more expensive version is also expected to include active noise cancellation (ANC), making this technology available at a lower price for the first time, rather than being exclusive to the AirPods Pro.
The report indicates that Apple plans to release the third-generation AirPods Pro “later,” likely next year, based on previous reports. However, what was not mentioned in the latest report is the status of the new AirPods Max. It has been almost four years since Apple introduced its premium over-ear wireless headphones.
