Since last January, Samsung has been leaking information about its first smart ring - Galaxy Ring. Today (Wednesday) at the official announcement event at the Louvre Museum in Paris, Samsung officially presented the capabilities of the new ring and provided more details about the launch, which will take place this month in several countries around the world. In the meantime, the Israelis will have to wait for the next rounds of launching the ring.

The main idea of the Galaxy Ring is its wearing comfort. It is designed to wink at users who don't want or are uncomfortable walking around with a smart watch on their wrist, especially during sleep. I wear the Ultrahuman ring, and the Samsung ring was narrower, so it's less bombastic on the finger.

Do you have a Samsung watch? Thanks to the ring, the battery life is longer

The ring makes it possible to more easily monitor sleep and also offers a longer battery life than watches. About seven days of battery life, compared to a day or two on some watches. Users who also own a Samsung watch will enjoy about 30% more battery time on their watch, as some of the monitoring will be done by the ring.

The ring weighs only 2.3 to 3 grams, it comes in a concave design in several colors: silver, gold and black with a titanium finish. The ring has water resistance up to a depth of 100 meters (10 ATM) and comes in nine different sizes (you need to choose the appropriate size from a measuring kit).

Similar to Samsung's watches, the ring also works with the health app - Samsung Health, with Samsung highlighting that it does not require a subscription fee for the insights the app provides. This is in contrast to the company leading the market today - Oura, which charges subscription fees for various uses of its application.

The ring and app offer insights into sleep, including sleep patterns and creating tips for building better habits. For example, a sleep score that makes it easy to understand whether sleep that night was effective or not, as well as measures of movement during sleep, heart rate, breathing rate during sleep and cycle tracking, which uses skin temperature monitoring during the night.

Every morning the application provides a health report that includes a variety of health indicators: Energy Score provides recommendations on the current physical state and is calculated based on the assessment of the physical and mental state in four aspects: sleep, activity, heart rate during sleep and changes in heart rate during sleep. In addition, you can receive personal messages about Wellness Tips (advice for quality of life) that are based on personal information and the interests of the user.

The app will tell you where the ring is

Additional information that you get with the ring and the app: heart rate alert for particularly high or low heart rates, maintaining an active lifestyle and high motivation with walking and running tracking, which automatically detects training and also sends daily fitness reminders, including an alert for inactivity (for example, when sitting prolonged while working).

The ring is also used as a remote control for taking pictures on a smartphone, this is done using gestures with the finger. You can also cancel phone notifications in this way.

One of the annoying things about smart rings is of course - they are easy to lose. Samsung integrated the "Find My Ring" feature into the Galaxy Ring, which will show you exactly where the ring is.
