In such a challenging time, when a young couple is having trouble buying an apartment, every parent wants to help their children with the purchase. A couple of parents who live in Givat Shmuel and own a two-story private house, found an original solution to take care of their daughter and her partner in an apartment. The solution that the couple came up with is to divide the house in such a way that the ground floor will remain in their possession, while the floor above will be divided into two two-room puzzles, where one of them will be used as an apartment for the daughter, while the other will be used as an accommodation/clinic unit.
When interior designer Yuli dorf started working on the project, first and foremost the needs of each future unit were defined. On the master floor, a spacious living room, large kitchen, dining area, master bedroom, bathroom, guest toilet and guest room were planned.
On the floor above in the daughter's apartment, a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and guest services were planned. The floor space also includes a family room shared by both units and a clinic room with a separate bathroom.
To enable the new design, several structural changes were made on the ground floor, it was decided to reverse the direction of the stairs and lower a pillar, which was in the center of the space, which necessitated the placement of iron pillars and a supporting beam, which stretched along the ceiling of the living room. It was decided not to hide the beam but to make it a prominent design element in the house that integrates as a work of art. The element also serves as a clear division between the dining area and the living room.
All the space created under the stairs was used with sophistication - a huge, corner library was designed in it that was partly transparent in two directions, to see the stairs as well, partly designed as a showcase and partly as sealed storage cabinets. The owner of the house collects a variety of items, and the transparent units are used to display all the collections.
Under the staircase there is also a unique bench, which is used for sitting calmly with a good book or a steaming cup of coffee, for which soft and relaxing lighting has been adjusted. The bench itself is used both as a storage cabinet and as an additional option for seating when many guests arrive, instead of adding chairs near the large dining area, which is located near the library and is used by the family at events with many participants.
The direction of the corner sofa in the living room is different, so that whoever sits on it sees the couple's well-tended garden in front of them. The TV is placed on a pole, so that it can be turned easily both towards the kitchen and towards the garden. The kitchen was carefully designed with the correct location of the functions in mind, many storage areas, a large work surface between the sink and the stove and an island in the center of the kitchen with 4 seats.
The style chosen for the home design is eclectic - a combination of elements from different styles and mixing them to get a special, non-standard, warm and pampering atmosphere. As a background for the design, natural stone-like porcelain granite flooring in dark gray tones was chosen, in the kitchen, which was designed with clean lines, textures of concrete and warm wood were combined, the beam and columns were painted black and connected with touches of black in the kitchen and panels, for the coverings of the entrance walls and the living room, briquettes were chosen in various shades of red, in the furniture, Most of which is in neutral shades of gray, touches of antique pink color were incorporated, which combined and softened the colors of the bricks.
As for the bedroom, the couple wanted to feel like they were in a hotel every time it was time to go to bed. In order to properly utilize the space, he made a connection between the bathroom, which is used by the couple as a closet every day, and the bedroom.
The bathroom was designed to be an integral part of the bedroom and is enclosed by a glass wall, which is partly completely transparent glass and partly frosted glass, with an opaque appearance. The use of glass can give The room feels like a much larger room. The wall in front of the bed was painted in a dark turquoise color to connect with the colors of the special lighting fixtures that the owner of the house brought from Dubai on one of her trips, and to create a special and warm atmosphere at the same time.
Dorf was asked to design and create a different space in the daughter's apartment And noam is colorful and to cancel the white that was common until now. In the design, warm shades of parquet with the texture of the kitchen, shades of rust and iron in the bathroom and shades of green in the walls and furniture were planned , separately and even a spacious work area. The floor and wall covering is made with porcelain granite, which gives an elegant look.
A third element that was designed in the house beyond the two apartments is the clinic that serves the daughter with holistic treatments and when necessary serves as an accommodation unit for the son who comes to visit from abroad. The clinic actually includes two rooms and can easily become a third apartment within the unique complex created.
