Aide to head of Russian space agency detained on treason charges

An aide to the head of Roscosmos, Russia's space agency, was detained by the authorities on Tuesday and charged with state treason, Roscosmos said in a statement.

It said the detention of Ivan Safronov, a former journalist specializing in military affairs, was not linked to his work with the space agency where he has worked as an advisor to General Director Dmitry Rogozin.

Safronov joined Roscosmos as a media advisor in May.
