A 29-year-old Israeli prisoner stabbed and injured an Israel Prison Service (IPS) officer last week, Walla reported on Saturday.
Ofek Ashkenazi, serving a 28-month sentence in a northern Israel prison, attacked and stabbed the officer repeatedly in the head with a handmade knife after receiving approval to make a phone call from her office.
Ashkenazi was eventually restrained by seven prison guards who were rushed to the scene. The officer received medical attention and was rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The prisoner's arrest was extended for six days as investigation of the stabbing incident is ongoing.
