Police investigates murder-suicide in Beit Shemesh

A man seemingly stabbed his daughter before killing himself, and the two were found dead by the woman's brother.

Israel Police is investigating a murder-suicide that happened on Saturday morning in Beit Shemesh, according to an Israel Police spokesperson.

A father in his 40s and his daughter were found with stab wounds by the woman's 17-year-old brother in the apartment owned by their mother. The brother immediately called emergency services, and when MDA arrived on the scene, they pronounced the two dead.

The two were identified as 21-year-old Liana Sabanuk, and her father Alexander.

The investigation's revelations

Israel Police suspected a murder-suicide and opened an investigation that revealed that the Sabanuk and her brother had a restraining order against their father and lived with their mother who was the father's ex-wife.

According to the police report, Alexander came to the apartment while Liana was alone and stabbed her while she slept before stabbing himself in another room.

"I saw blood stains in the entrance to the apartment, and I understood that it could be the worst of all," the brother told the police. "I went inside and saw both of them lifeless, each in a different room."

Police found the knives that were used at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
