15-year-old shot, seriously injured in Kfar Rama

The police began collecting evidence and opened an investigation into the shooting.

A 15-year-old girl was seriously injured Wednesday night in a shooting in the northern village of Rama. The MDA team that was called to the scene gave her medical treatment and evacuated her to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya while she was unconscious, sedated and on mechanical ventilation. The police began collecting evidence and opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

MDA paramedic Fakhri Arnaut, who arrived at the scene, said that he saw that the girl was unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound. "At the entrance to the village we got into a private vehicle and they took the girl out to us," he repeated. "We gave her life-saving medical treatment and we urgently evacuated her to the hospital as she was in a serious but stable condition."

Other recent violent incidents in northern Israel

Yesterday, a 50-year-old woman was stabbed to death in the settlement of Abu Sanan in the western Galilee. A medical team determined the woman's death after she was found at the entrance to her house with a severe wound in the neck area showing no signs of life. A short time later, the police arrested her son, about 25 years old, who is unknown to the police, on suspicion of murdering her. After an assessment of the situation, the investigation into the circumstances of the case was assigned to the crime unit.

About two weeks ago, 20-year-old Zain Awad was shot to death near a food vendor in Zareah, near Nahariya. Medics and paramedics gave him medical treatment and evacuated him to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya while administering CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The MDA team was called to the scene after receiving a report and found Awad lying unconscious without a pulse and not breathing with a gunshot wound to his body. MDA paramedic Adrian Ocampo and MDA senior medic Samir Awad added that "We gave him initial medical treatment in the field and evacuated him quickly to the hospital while performing resuscitation operations; his condition is critical."
