The Otzma Yehudit-endorsed bill to combat the spread of illegal weapons in the Arab sector passed its first reading in the Knesset plenum on Wednesday night.
The bill, if passed into law, will enable police officers to search homes where they suspect that illegal weapons are being held even without a court order. The law, as designed, would be in effect for one year only.
