Israeli police officer sentenced to 52 months for selling firearms to pay debt

A police officer was sentenced to 52 months in prison for the sale of stolen firearms, the Police Internal Investigation Department announced on Sunday.

Officer Sharaf Nasr el-Din was convicted under a plea agreement.

In 2021, el-Din allegedly stole an M-16 rifle from the house of his friend, who served in the Border Police. This weapon was later used in an attempted shooting in Deir Hana.

El-Din reportedly sought to pay off loans that he took out and failed to repay.
