Jailed Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny was sentenced on Friday to an additional 19 years in prison after being found guilty on a series of new charges, Navalny's supporters said, citing the judge at a court hearing.
The United States condemned a Russian court’s further sentencing and conviction of opposition politician Alexei Navalny, a State Department spokesperson said on Friday.
British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly condemned also condemned the Russian court's decision.
"His abuse shows Russia's complete disregard for even the most basic of human rights," Cleverly said.
"Dissent cannot be silenced. The UK calls for his immediate release," he added.
