Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen met with his Romanian counterpart, Luminița Odobescum, on Tuesday following her arrival in the country.
"We will not forget those who stand by us in these difficult days," Cohen stated after the meeting. "I thank the foreign minister and many others in Romania for their support for Israel and for their statements about Israel's right to defend itself.
"We are fighting a cruel enemy, worse than ISIS and we need time to win. I asked the foreign minister to support Israel in the war to overthrow the Hamas regime in the Gaza Strip and that Romania, together with other good friends in Europe, promote the declaration of Hamas as a terrorist organization in Europe."
"We must dry up the funding sources of Hamas, which are directly involved in financing terrorism and murdering civilians," Cohen declared.
At least four Romanian nationals were killed in the October 7 attack by Hamas, the Romanian Foreign Ministry confirmed. She is in the country accompanying Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu who is set to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
