In collaboration with the IDF and Israel Police, the Shin Bet thwarted a plan to attack and kidnap Israelis near Jericho, Israeli media reported Monday.

The two orchestrators of the attack were identified as Muhammad Tarik, 19, and Amin Katash, 20, Maariv reported.

In this incident, the two formed a terrorist squad, purchased weapons, recruited additional members, and planned this kidnapping in conjunction with efforts to bomb IDF forces.

An investigation into the incident revealed that the squad dug a hole in order to hide those they planned to take hostage. The hole was dug near the house of one of the squad members, and was hidden. As part of the investigation, a "Carlo" weapon, a charger, a vest, radios, and military uniforms were handed over.

Indictments were already filed to the military court against the two of them for serious security offenses, including preparing to shoot an individual, preparing to take individuals hostage, and membership and support of a hostile organization.

The General Security Service stated that "it will continue to act to thwart terrorist activity against Israeli targets and will work to bring justice against those involved in the acts."

This is a developing story.
