Barak reduces minimum age for Arab agricultural workers

Defense Minister Ehud Barak lowered the minimum work for Palestinian agricultural workers from 30 to 26 Tuesday at the behest of the Plants Production and Marketing Board and the Agriculture Ministry.The minimum age reduction follows other steps to facilitate agricultural labor cooperation, such as increasing quotas for the number of workers allowed to work the in West Bank.Zvi Alon, head of the Plants Production and Marketing Board, welcomed the announcement, saying, "This is a significant change that should be welcomed. This change will make the absorption of many more workerers possible ahead of the vegetable, fruit, citrus and flower export season."
