Communities in South lament to FADC over rocket shelters

The Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee (FADC) on Sunday met with heads of communities situated along the border with the Gaza Strip who expressed their grievances towards the defense establishment's policy on rocket shelters within the communities.
"There is a significant gap between the satisfaction of the professional work of the Home Front Command in the construction of the shelters versus the response given by the defense establishment," Chairman of the FADC MK Shaul Mofaz said. "This is unimaginable gap which we must address. In bridging the gaps we will turn to the prime minister, the defense minister and the ministers in charge of Home Front matters and we will also hold a focused discussion on the issue in the subcommittee."
"The stubbornness of the Defense Ministry on refusing to supply shelters to cities along the border with Gaza (Ashkelon, Ofakim and Netivot) is a scandal and the answers given by the ministry in this regard are simply ridiculous," MK Avi Dichter said. "It cannot be that the Home Front Command and the Defense Ministry will define educational institutions that are at significant risk due since they are not protected."
The FADC also discussed the upcoming deployment of the Iron Dome missile defense shield.
