Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon reasserted his appreciation of the US-Israeli relationship on Tuesday, after he reportedly criticised US Secretary of State John Kerry.
"The relationship between Israel and the US is intimate and of great importance to us. The US is our greatest friend... and when we have differences of opinion, we work them out behind closed doors," Ya'alon stated.
Regarding Kerry himself, Ya'alon added, "I have many conversations with the Secretary of State [John] Kerry in regards to the future of the State of Israel. I will keep protecting the citizens of Israel with determination and responsibility."
Earlier on Tuesday, Ya'alon was reported to have said to associates in private conversations that “the only thing that can ‘save’ us is for John Kerry to win his Nobel Prize and leave us alone."
