Deri: Jews must raise voice in light of massacres in Aleppo

Jews cannot remain silent in the face of the massacre taking place in Syria, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri said on Tuesday.
Amid reports of the slaughter of civilians in Aleppo by the Syrian army, Deri said he turned to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to issue a call for an emergency session of the UN Security Council to bring about an end to the slaughter in Aleppo.
“Six million Jews were killed in the Holocaust and the world was silent,” Deri said in an interview with Radio Kol Hai. “As Jews, it is forbidden for us to be silent in the faces of the horrors that are taking place in Syria now for nearly six years.”
According to Deri, “the acts of slaughter in Aleppo – the killing of babies, children, women and the aged – obligates us as Jews, a nation that knew the Holocaust and horrible massacres, to raise a hue and cry.”
