Housing and Construction Minister Yoav Gallant said that he should be appointed defense minister in the next cabinet."It's good for Israel's security for me to be the defense minister," Gallant said in a speech delivered Tuesday. Gallant added that he plans to run with Moshe Kahlon's Kulanu party, even though his security outlook more closely matches that of the ruling Likud.Former defense minister Avigdor Liberman departed the post suddenly on November 14 in protest over the cabinet's decision to approve a ceasefire with Hamas.
