‘Gush Katif Square’ unveiled in Jerusalem

A new public square, named after the nearby Gush Katif Museum -- which commemorates the nearly 8,000 Jewish residents expelled from 21 communities in the Katif Bloc in Gaza during the 2005 pullout ordered by Ariel Sharon -- was unveiled in Jerusalem on Tuesday.
The museum’s director, Shai Gefen, called the unveiling a “historical moment” “correcting a historic injustice.” The once thriving community was built in 1970 with aid from the Israeli government.
