Hamas official Bassem Naim on Thursday accused the US of “blatant interference in Palestinian affairs” hours after US President Donald Trump’s peace envoy Jason Greenblatt issued a statement on Palestinian reconciliation efforts, in which he demanded that any Palestinian government commit to a host of positions including nonviolence and recognizing Israel."This is blatant interference in Palestinian affairs because it is the right of our people to choose its government according to their supreme strategic interests," Naim told AFP.Greenblatt’s statement said "any Palestinian government must unambiguously and explicitly commit to non-violence, recognize the State of Israel, accept previous agreements and obligations between the parties - including to disarm terrorists - and commit to peaceful negotiations.”
