Hamas to Lebanon's Palestinians: Stay out of politics
By JPOST.COM STAFF
Senior Hamas official Mahmoud Zahar implored Palestinian refugees to stay out of Lebanese politics and focus on returning to Palestine, during a visit to the highly-symbolic southern Lebanese village of Marj Zahour on Sunday, reported The Daily Star."Don’t tamper with Lebanon’s security and don’t take sides in this country’s issues. Try to keep Palestine your target," said the Hamas co-founder.“When Palestine was our political priority, we returned to it. If your political priority turned to partisan or sectarian purposes, you will not return,” Zahar said.Zahar promised the refugees to involve the Arab League or other Arab states to improve conditions in the camps. He himself lived in Marj Zuhour for a year in 1992 before being ousted by Israel.
