Haredim ask millionaires for private bus lines

A major rabbi asked five haredi businessmen on Monday to create and fund a private transportation system for haredim only. According to an Army Radio report, the rabbi asked for rides within Jerusalem, and inter-city lines between Jerusalem-Bet Shemesh and Jerusalem-Ashdod. The rabbi also asked for the buses to run free of charge.
According to the report, the Ministry of Transportation stated that it had not received an official request from anybody in the haredi community about a potential new bus line.
The news follows an incident that occurred last week when 28-year-old Tania Rosenblit refused to submit to the demands of haredi passengers to take a back seat on a bus traveling from Ashdod to Jerusalem.
