High School teachers declare two hour warning strike

The Secondary Teacher's Association announced on Tuesday evening that high school teachers of grades 10-12 throughout the country will go on a two hour warning strike Wednesday morning until 10 a.m.
Ran Erez, head of the teacher's association said the strike was a result of a lack of progress on numerous issues with which the association has been in ongoing negotiations for nearly two years with the Education Ministry.  Among the issues, Erez listed problems with payment of salaries, unacceptable working conditions and unclear instructions regarding ministry matriculation exam and other reforms.
“For two years we have been trying, nicely, to resolve issues vis a vis the education ministry with no success,” Erez said. “This is a warning strike with the intent that the education ministry will understand that we are fed up with talks without results,” he added.
