Israel is facing the worst electricity shortage since its founding, a shortage that will peak this summer, the Water and Energy Ministry said Wednesday.Ministry director Shaul Tzamah told Army Radio that, "Israel is in the middle of the most severe shortage since the founding of the state."He called on the public to reduce electricity usage and avoid operating washing machines, dishwashers, and any other unnecessary appliances while the heat runs.Further, he said, Israelis should use subsidized, energy-efficient light bulbs.
