Israel’s Bychenko skates to Grand Prix bronze

Israeli figure skater Alexei Bychenko won his first career medal at a Grand Prix event over the weekend, ending the men’s competition at the Rostelecom Cup in Moscow in third place.
Bychenko, who became the first Israeli to claim a medal at the European Figure Skating Championships in January when he finished in second place, took a bronze in Moscow, finishing behind Spain’s world champion Javier Fernandez and Shoma Uno of Japan.
Bychenko finished with a score of 255.52, with Fernandez finishing with 292.98 and Uno registering 285.07.
“My performance today was really, really good,” said four-time European champion Fernandez.
“There are not many bad things I have to say. There are a few levels missing that we have to practice. I’m glad I fought through the program. When you fight you always have a reward, so this was the reward today.”
