A 27-year-old man was arrested on Friday morning for allegedly stabbing his 52-year-old mother in Beit Shemesh.
Medics who arrived at the scene were forced to declare her death shortly after their arrival.
The suspect, one of her nine children, had been recently released from a psychiatric facility, Israeli media reported, and was not supposed to be at home at the time of the attack. The family had moved to Beit Shemesh from the South about six months ago. He was transferred to a police for questioning.
Authorities received report of the incident from a nurse who lives with the mother. Shortly after arresting the son, additional police forces, including forensic investigators from the Jerusalem district police and a mobile forensic laboratory came to the scene and began investigating the evidence and collecting findings.
Shorly after the suspect was taken in for questioning, deputy commander of the Jerusalem district, Lt.-Gen. Danny Levy, arrived at the scene and held a situational assessment with the police staff on location.
The suspect will be brought to court sometime throughout the coming weekend, where the police will ask to have his arrest extended in order to proceed with the investigation.
This is a developing story.
