Hamas leader Moussa Abu Marzouk downplayed the likelihood of a large-scale IDF operation in the Gaza Strip following the recent escalation of violence, Gaza news portal Al Resalah reported Thursday."It would be difficult to start a new war such as the one we saw in Gaza at the end of 2008," Marzouk said, referring to the three-week bombing and invasion of the Gaza Strip carried out by the IDF in response to continued rocket attacks by terrorists in Gaza.Still, Marzouk, who is the deputy president of Hamas's political bureau, described the Egyptian-brokered cease-fire as "fragile," and commented that Hamas had not diminished the importance of "popular resistance."
