Medvedev appoints Russia's NATO envoy as Deputy PM

GORKI, Russia - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev appointed Russia's NATO ambassador Dmitry Rogozin as Deputy Prime Minister on Friday to oversee the country's defense industry.
"I have appointed you as Deputy Prime Minister...so that you could coordinate the development of our defense industry," Medvedev told Rogozin in his residence in Gorki.
Rogozin took the post of Sergei Ivanov, a long-standing ally of Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin who was appointed Kremlin chief of staff on Thursday.
Putin, Russia's top leader, is widely expected to return to the Kremlin after an election in March.
