All 120 of Knesset members will be tested for coronavirus immediately, it was announced Wednesday morning.
A number of MKs, including Interior Minister Arye Deri, entered quarantine after coming into close contact with Merhavim regional council head Shai Hajaj, who recently tested positive for the virus.
Other Knesset members being quarantined include Regional Cooperation Minister Tzachi Hanegbi and MKs Ben Barak and Alon Schuster. They also came into contact with Hajaj in a meeting held on Sunday. Although the meeting adhered to restrictions and criteria demanded by the coronavirus situation, maintaining proper distance and avoiding contact, the MKs are still going into quarantine in order to further uphold Health Ministry guidelines.
Others who were present at the meeting have put themselves into self-isolation as well, following the announcement that Hajaj had tested positive for the coronavirus.
Several of the attendees have announced their intentions to continue performing their civil duty from home during the two-week period of quarantine.
