NYC Mayor de Blasio 'heartbroken' over attacks in Israel

NEW YORK, NY - New York Mayor Bill de Blasio issued a statement on Tuesday saying he is “heartbroken” by the terror attacks that hit Israel earlier in the day that “took the lives of three innocent Israelis and left many more wounded.”
“My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims and their families.” he said, “New York City joins Israel in mourning these innocent lives.”
The mayor added that people around the world “must speak out against the loss of any innocent life” and that he continues to “pray for the day in which the Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace and security.”
Mayor de Blasio is expected to arrive to Israel on Friday to participate in the Annual Conference of Mayors organized by the American Jewish Congress, American Council for World Jewry, and World Forum of Russian-Speaking Jewry.
The event will be held in Jerusalem and de Blasio is scheduled to give a keynote address on the topic “Anti-Semitism in the West: How cities must lead.”
This will be the mayor’s first trip to Israel since he took office in January 2014.
