Omri Casspi waived by Memphis Grizzlies

Israeli-born basketball player Omri Casspi was waived by the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday evening, a team spokesman wrote on Twitter.
The move was made to clear out a roster space after the team made a four-player deal at the trade deadline.
Casspi, whose contract was not guaranteed, has been sidelined with a knee injury since the beginning of February and is not expected to return soon. He had surgery at the beginning of February.
In 36 games for the Grizzlies this year, Casspi averaged 6.3 points on 53.4 percent shooting off the bench.
Beginning his career with Maccabi Tel Aviv,  Casspi was the first Israeli to be selected in the first round of an NBA draft.
