Plane crashes in northern Siberia, 15 people dead

MOSCOW  — A passenger plane crashed near a city in northern Siberia on Monday, killing 15 people aboard, Russia's Emergencies Ministry said.
Ministry spokeswoman Irina Andryanova said the Antonov-24 twin turboprop plane went down on approach to the airport in the town of Igarka.
Igarka is in the sprawling Siberian region of Krasnoyarsk, some 2,500 kilometers (1500 miles) east of Moscow.
Andryanova says the plane was on its way from the regional capital, also called Krasnoyarsk. It was not immediately clear which airline was running the plane.
