The remand of a caretaker suspected of the murder of 90-year-old man in a Jerusalem nursing home was extended by a week on Monday. According to a judge in the Jerusalem’s Magistrate Court, the allegations against the caretaker have been supported and there is concern that more elderly were abused.The deceased was found with strangulation marks on his neck. According to Channel 10, the caretaker, who denies the allegations, gave conflicting testimony regarding why he was handling the man’s neck. The case was referred to police by the director of the nursing home after employees reported seeing the suspect standing over the deceased body.According to data released by the Welfare Ministry in 2013, 20% of the elderly in Israel experience abuse and/or neglect.
