Report: Formrer German intel chief negotiated Schalit deal

The German mediator who negotiated the release of Gilad Schalit was former intelligence chief Bernd Schmidbauer, according to Al Arabiya, Israel Radio reported Saturday.According to the report, Schmidbauer is currently acting as a go-between for the International Criminal Court in the Hague and Saif al-Islam, the son of former Libyan dictator Muamar Gaddafi. In the past, Schmidbauer mediated deals between Israel and Hezbollah over kidnapped airman Ron Arad.
