Report: Kiryat Malachi neighborhood bans Ethiopians

A neighborhood council in the southern city of Kiryat Malachi signed a confidential agreement not to allow the renting or selling of any property to Israelis of Ethiopian descent, a Channel 2 news report revealed Tuesday.
According to the report, dozens of residents gathered to sign the agreement, which was approved unanimously.
The racism has apparently become a common phenomenon in the sunny southern Israeli city.
"A good Ethiopian is an Ethiopian in a grave," one resident told a Channel 2 reporter. Another complained about the smell of Ethiopian cuisine and how the Israelis of Ethiopian descent carry the odor themselves.
Another man said a man working at the local kindergarten was asked not to walk through the neighborhood, according to the report.
Local residents have been asked to report to the police any information on the discriminatory measures taken by the local council.
