Syrian opposition rebels fired shots at Syrian President Bashar Assad's convoy on Tuesday, Al Jazeera reported, as he toured a neighborhood of Homs that was once their stronghold prior to a fierce military assault.Assad was making a rare appearance during his visit to the Baba Amr neighborhood in Homs that was aired on state television."Babar Amr will be much better than before," Assad told dozens of residents as he toured the battered neighborhood, much of it wrecked after government forces engaged in a weeks-long battle with rebels that resulted in hundreds of civilian deaths.The Syrian president was greeted by residents, some weeping and others cheering him on, while he assured them the government wanted to make a plan to rebuild the neighborhood, and return life to normal there.Read the full story here90-year-old Ramat Gan man chokes on doughnut, in critical condition
