The government is expected to approve the construction of 1,500 public pre-schools over the next year, Education Minister Gideon Sa’ar (Likud) said Tuesday.Sa’ar said that the pre-schools will be for children between the ages 3 to 4, and is part of an NIS 1.3 billion multi-year plan to build a grand total of 2,500 such pre-schools across the country.Sa’ar, whose comments came during the Heads of Arab Local Councils Conference in Tyre, said that the plan is meant to reduce the costs of pre-school for families across the country, and, according to his calculations, should help provide an additional 80,000 children who currently lack an educational framework.Sa’ar said that he believes that by the end of January the government will approve the plan as part of their debate over the findings in the education section of this summer’s Trajtenberg Committee on social issues.
