Students may be allowed to vote near campus in next election

People who do not live at the address registered with the Interior Ministry will be able to vote near their place of residence in the next Knesset election, if a proposal the Central Elections Committee submitted Wednesday becomes law.
The change will impact university students, national service volunteers, yeshiva students and others whose registered address is their parents' home, but are not living there at the time of the election. Those who will not be near their registered address on Election Day will have to notify the Central Elections Committee at least 74 days before an election.
The proposal was sent to the Knesset Law, Constitution and Justice Committee, which will determine whether to draft a bill based on the recommendation.
