TA hands out saplings to city’s children for Tu Bishvat

In honor of Tu Bishvat, the city of Tel Aviv-Yafo’s Beautification Division has supplied 30,000 seedlings of various shapes and sizes to community gardens, schools and other institutions throughout the municipality.
Among the 30,000 seedlings are potted herbs, shrubs, multi-annual species and vegetables, and recipients have included volunteer bodies, young students, therapeutic institutions and community centers, according to the city. On Tu Bishvat itself, the city will also distribute 18,000 saplings of seasonal plants to kindergarten children throughout its realms, as well as about 2,000 perennial plants to grade school students. Planting will be occurring particularly in the eastern portion of the city – in Gan Hidushey Harim, the Kfir neighborhood, Naomi Shemer School and in the Tel Baruch neighborhood.
In honor of Tu Bishvat, the city will also be holding various events in its community gardens throughout the week, including picnics, bicycle tours, composting workshops and urban nature tours, the municipality said.
