Jewish teachers in the United Kingdom are bring encouraged to join unions to combat anti-Israel rhetoric, London newspaper the Jewish Chronicle reported.According to the Chronicle, the UK Board of Deputies and Jewish Leadership Council are backing a drive to re-engage Jewish teachers in the Israel debate, and feel more comfortable at National Union of Teacher's (NUT) conferences.Flora Richards, JTA head, was quoted by the Chronicle as saying that many Jewish teachers in the UK feel the "demonization and delegitimization of the Jewish state has struck at Jewish teachers and made their position within NUT untenable.”The NUT drew controversy last year because of a proposed motion to draw closer to the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
