Worries abound over selection of next Shin Bet head

Security officials have called upon the prime minister to prevent any outside political interference in the security establishment appointment process, Israel Radio reported on Tuesday.
The security establishment's hackles were raised after national religious rabbi Haim Druckman requested requested a meeting with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu or members of his office to discuss the candidates for the next head of the Shin Bet, according to Israel Radio.
Senior figures in the national religious camp have recently expressed worries over the potential successor for current Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin. One of the men favored for the position is currently the head of the Shin Bet's Jewish division and is seen as responsible for much of the recent controversial incidents involving the security services and settlers.
