A 31-year-old woman serving in the Ukrainian police department was flown from the city of Lvov to Haifa for treatment at the Rambam Medical Center after being wounded by a mine.
The country’s president was personally involved in arranging for the evacuation to Israel, making contact with Dr.
Roman Barak, head of Haifa’s private Horev Medical Center, who 18 months ago treated a Ukrainian mayor who was wounded in an assassination attempt.
As a result, Rambam’s intensive care director, Prof. Yaron Bar, flew to the Ukraine on a rented jet to stabilize the policewoman’s condition and bring her to Haifa.
She has undergone several operations. When her condition stabilizes, she will be taken for rehabilitation, Rambam said.
